  • Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery

Minimally invasive spine surgery is an approach used to treat several spinal conditions through smaller incisions instead of extensively opening the muscles around the spine. It may be used for conditions involving disc problems, spinal instability, nerve compression or certain spinal fractures, depending on the individual diagnosis. The approach allows the surgeon to access and treat the affected part of the spine while minimising disruption to nearby healthy tissue.

Endoscopic spine surgery uses a thin camera called an endoscope, along with specialised surgical instruments, to reach the affected area through a very small incision. The craniovertebral or CV junction is the complex area where the base of the skull connects with the uppermost part of the spine. Depending on the condition, patients may experience neck pain, weakness or numbness in the arms or legs, difficulty walking or maintaining balance, spinal cord compression, and restricted neck movement. CV junction surgery may involve decompression, stabilisation or fixation to relieve pressure on the spinal cord and provide stability to this sensitive region.

Some spinal conditions cannot be managed with a simple decompression or minimally invasive procedure. Severe deformities, progressive spinal curvature, instability or complications from previous surgery may require complex reconstruction and correction.   • Spinal Deformity Correction

A spinal deformity occurs when the spine develops an abnormal curve or alignment. The deformity may develop during childhood or adolescence, or occur later in life due to degenerative changes, previous spinal surgery, osteoporosis, neuromuscular conditions or congenital abnormalities. Severe deformity can lead to pain, poor posture, imbalance, difficulty walking and, in some cases, pressure on the nerves or spinal cord. Spinal deformity correction surgery aims to improve spinal alignment, restore better balance and posture, stabilise the spine, reduce nerve compression where present, and improve mobility and daily function.

  • Curved Spine Surgery / Scoliosis Surgery

Scoliosis is a condition in which the spine curves sideways and may also rotate, creating an abnormal S-shaped or C-shaped curve. Mild cases may only need monitoring, but severe or progressive scoliosis can cause uneven shoulders or hips, visible spinal curvature, back pain, difficulty maintaining posture or balance, and reduced lung function in very severe cases.
